Ridiculous!

Kittens are just plain the most crazy cute creatures on the planet. It’s INSANE how cute they are!

Seriously.

So… I had a blast with these two babies. Mittens and Maggie.

This is Maggie.

She is the more outgoing of the two. I mean,  not that either one is particularly laid back. Both of these girls were

adopted just last week from the Kentucky Humane Society! And they are hilarious. We took them to my studio where they explored everything- and I do mean EVERYTHING!

Maggie, below, is kindly demonstrating how I felt pretty much the entire time. I was thinking … please don’t climb my lights and -oh- no climbing the backdrop!

Mittens was really enamored with the camera. Don’t ask me why. But it made for some pretty cute pictures! I have a wide angle lens in this one and she is about 2 inches away from it!

While Maggie was a little harder to pin down, Mittens was always up for a close-up:) Look at her cute little white paws. Hmm… wonder how she got her name?

It was so much fun photographing these guys. Really- I can’t believe I get paid for this!

If you would like to have wonderful kittens like these to provide hours of entertainment and smiles.  Please pop over to the Kentucky Humane Society. They have a LOT of kittens right now who need loving homes like these two have found. Here’s the link to their website: http://www.kyhumane.org . And if you don’t have a place in your home for a kitten, maybe you’d consider a donation? If you love animals, there’s no better cause.

“Blessed”

I met a fabulous horse with a wonderful story for a photo shoot in Goshen. His name is Beato- pronounced “Bee-ah-tu”.

Beato means “blessed” and he earned the name because when he was born, his legs didn’t function and he could not stand. But when the veterinarian came out to euthanize him, miraculously the little colt was standing there waiting for him! So, he was named “blessed” because it is a miracle he is even alive.

He’s a stunning boy, now. And he’s come a long way from being rescued as a young horse to being nurtured and loved by his owner, Julie.

One of the features I love the most in horses is their expression. Beato’s eyes, to me anyway, show how loving and intelligent he is.

Julie spends a lot of time with Beato. He has come such a long way under her care. And she recently taught him to stand on this platform- a “trick” he is so proud of! He stands up there any looks around like he’s king of the world.  I have a lot of photos of him doing this particular action- but this is my favorite. Because I swear it looks like Julie is telling him a secret and he is listening. Like they are sharing a moment that only they understand.

Beato was wonderful to photograph and is a shining example of how a rescued horse can become an amazing partner. He brings joy to everyone he meets.

A Seriously Cute Dog!

I mean… really. You can’t find a much cuter dog than this one, right?

Jenny is a Border Terrier. Ever heard of of that breed?  I actually had envisioned a mix between a Terrier and a Border Collie.  So I was really surprised when I saw Jenny.    You know, I did one of those moves you do when you expect someone tall but see someone short.

What a doll!

That little face kills me.

Jenny is a really loving dog. She’s has such an expressive face, I think. You can just tell how smart she is.

But don’t let the portrait shots fool you.   Little Jenny is quite the fire cracker!

She is probably the only dog I can remember who never ran out of steam.  I mean, I usually have them napping by the end of the shoot- but Jenny was still rearing to go. The whole time!

I thought she sort of fit in well at the farm. She checked out the horses, but didn’t chase any. She ran around and explored. And she posed in front of this gate for me- I think she looks really cute in this shot because she’s so little and she looks like a show dog holding her tail straight out like that!

I wonder what Jenny is thinking here. Hmm… probably something about sitting still for the crazy woman who’s pretending to make dog noises so she could have her 20th treat of the morning!

Just a sweet, cute dog. I swear- I could SO take her home with me! Oh well, that’s what I usually say after my shoots- dogs rock…. don’t they?
